What no one is talking about
I tried really hard to not talk about the controversy going on between Trump and the NFL. It’s really complicated to know what to do when I resonate with one side but still see the perspective of the other. I am going to do my best to not make this about my opinion or perspective and perhaps pose a different view.
Why is no one talking about this…
Men who see things differently, but choose to stand together and support each other anyway. Isn’t this how you would want your child to respond in the face of controversy? I don’t know what side of the issue you stand on… but I know you have a side because we all do. It seems as if everyone loves to point out what went wrong this weekend but I am going to choose to be inspired by this picture. People who reach out for each other even in a time of difference. The NFL got this one right over the weekend.
Anyone who tries to divide our country more by hateful comments or anger isn’t part of the solution. I want to know how differently things would have gone if the leader of our country had approached this protest in a peaceful way. Instead he picked words that were hurtful and fueled the fire.
“Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
We don’t have to agree to love each other. I would be proud of my son if he was any of the men in that picture. They chose love and love is worth standing for.
Oh yeah, and then they all went out and played a game. Aren’t we ready for Facebook conversations, news stories, and headlines to be fun again?
Love creates fun.
