DIY Painted Wallpaper in the Mudroom
I get these spontaneous bursts of energy to do something creative and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. This one worked and I loved how it turned out so much that I wanted to share it with you!
I really wanted to hang wallpaper in our mudroom, but for one wall it was going to be $600+ and that didn’t even include the labor (because I am definitely not hanging wallpaper myself)! So I decided to just hand paint it 8 months pregnant because why not add something to my giant to do list!
I purposely didn’t do a pattern that would have to be exact or precise so that I could free hand the whole thing. You guys, this was so easy! I started with just the dark grey shapes in the middle of the wall. After every couple of feet that I painted I would take a step back and make sure that it was all balanced. Then After the whole wall was covered in these abstract shapes I went through with gold paint and added them in.
From start to finish the wall only took me 1.5 hours! I promise. I still can’t believe how easy it was. I even went back through and touched up the shapes. If you are intimated by the free handing the shapes, print of a close up picture of them below and have it next to you as you paint. You got this!
